The standard model and notation of business processes (BPMN) is intended for direct use by stakeholders who design, manage and realize business processes, but at the same time it is precise enough to enable the conversion of BPMN diagrams into computer components that perform these processes.
BPMN diagrams, which are independent of any implementation environment, enable organizations to understand their internal business processes in graphical form and to communicate about these processes in a standard way. Furthermore, the graphical record facilitates the understanding of collaboration and business transactions within and between organizations. Application of this standard ensures that organizations understand themselves and the participants in their work and enables rapid adaptation to new internal and B2B business circumstances.
