Portable Document Format (abbreviated: PDF) is a document format created by Adobe Systems in 1993.

It is used to record two-dimensional documents regardless of device and print resolution.

Each PDF document contains a complete description of the document, including images, text, vector graphics, raster images, and may also contain fonts necessary for text display. To display PDF documents, you need to have appropriate computer programs, which are free and can be found on the Internet.

PDF/A is an ISO standardized version of the PDF format specialized for archiving and long-term storage of electronic documents. PDF/A differs from PDF in that it restricts the use of certain features that are unsuitable for long-term archiving, such as linking external fonts and encryption.
