The standard defines a declarative language for attribute-based access control and a process model for evaluating access requests in accordance with the rules defined in access policies.

e-Authorizations use the XACML standard: "eXtensible Access Control Markup Language", which defines a language for the detailed declarative definition of policies for resource access control based on attributes, the system architecture and the process model, which describes how to evaluate access requests according to the rules defined in the policies.
