SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is a platform-independent, XML-based communication protocol used to exchange information between applications via the HTTP protocol. It was developed to enable simple communication of textual content via the HTTP communication protocol, which is adapted precisely to the exchange of textual content. The protocol is independent of programming language, platform and easily extensible.
The SOAP protocol enables communication between applications running on different operating systems and different technologies. Applications exchange messages in an agreed format. Messages are formatted as XML documents, so their processing and verification is simple and can be carried out by any program designed to work with XML documents. The SOAP client creates an XML document containing the corresponding request. This document is formatted according to the SOAP specification (http://www.w3.org/TR/soap/). The document arrives at the SOAP server, which processes incoming requests and starts the appropriate application based on the incoming requests. After the processing is completed, the SOAP server, using the SOAP protocol, returns a response message to the SOAP client. Field of application
