Single digital gateway (SDG)
On October 3, 2018, the European Parliament and the Council adopted the Regulation on the establishment of a single digital gateway as a source of information, procedures, support services and troubleshooting and on the amendment of Regulation (EU) no. 1024/2012, which entered into force on December 11, 2018.
What is Single digital gateway - SDG?
Single Digital Gateway (SDG) is a concept that refers to a centralized platform (portal) that provides users with a single point of access to digital services, information and procedures provided by different public institutions at the national, regional or European level.
The single digital gateway will use the existing name "Your Europe" and will include a single user interface integrated into the Your Europe portal. The interface will be easy to use and available in all official EU languages. The new gateway will bring together a number of networks and services that have been established at national and EU levels to support cross-border activities.
Holders of the implementation of SDG
The Central State Office for the Development of the Digital Society is the implementer, while the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts is the co-implementer at the horizontal level. The aforementioned bodies carry out horizontal coordination of implementation in cooperation with all relevant authorities for individual administrative areas and public policies necessary for the development of the Single Digital Gateway. The Commission, in cooperation with national administrations, will develop technical tools that will support the functioning of the gateway.
The SDG will make it easier for citizens and businesses to use all the opportunities that the single market offers, thanks to easier access to online information, administrative procedures and assistance services regarding their single market rights.
Why SDG?
Digital transformation has a fundamental impact on the internal market, one of the most tangible achievements of the European Union (EU). Creating a true single digital market - where the free movement of goods, people, services and capital is ensured and where individuals and companies can seamlessly access and carry out online activities under conditions of fair competition and with a high level of consumer and personal data protection, regardless of their nationality or place of residence - is one of the permanent key priorities of the EC.
SDG is based on standardized technical solutions and interoperability to ensure connection and integration with different information systems of public institutions. Examples of services that can be provided through the SDG include registering a business, registering a residence, accessing information about social rights or applying for jobs.
This approach allows users to find information about their rights, obligations and opportunities provided by the public administration in one place. It also allows them to perform administrative procedures, such as applications, submission of requests or submission of forms, online.
Some key administrative procedures will be available online for both national and cross-border users. They cover 21 situations relevant to business, work or study or moving from one place to another, for example a request for a residence certificate, application for scholarships and loans, recognition of foreign professional qualifications, obtaining a European health insurance card, registration of a motor vehicle, requests for obtaining a pension and registration of employees in the pension and insurance fund.

Conclusion
In the European context, the Single Digital Gateway is an initiative of the European Union aimed at creating a single digital point of access to information and services at the level of the entire EU. This initiative aims to facilitate the movement of citizens and businesses within the European Union and to provide transparent information about their rights and obligations in other member states.
